Children Do Not Need Salt or Flavourings!

Many have asked: Why home made? Why organic? Why no salt or flavourings?

I won't go into lengthy debates about this.

My personal take:
1. Our children are born with immature organs which may not be able to take additional loads from salt, flavourings and unnecessary chemicals in food/skincare. Already they are exposed to many harmful substances, which we may not be able to control (e.g. compulsory vaccinations & environment). Food can be controlled by what we give them. To give the best to our babies is to be aware of what we are feeding them.

2. Processed foods contain many additional chemicals to make the product last longer and make the product taste good. Food naturally tastes good! We just need to find the right mix.

3. Why organic? In our hectic life, we might need to resort to packaged food. Organic packaged food makes me feel less guilty. They have the same belief as me - no chemicals. So, why not? When I was a mother of 1, I was more fanatic about everything home made. Now, having to juggle 2 boys and working from home, I shall 'close one eye'.

4. The most satisfying thing for me, is to cook for my boys & seeing them enjoy their food. It doesn't take much time (notice my recipes are always 'lazy' types in which we just 'go with our feel'?). Don't worry if it turns out crappy. Try again!

5. Healthy eating habits start from young. If they are used to flavourful or sweet food from young, what will happen for the rest of their lifetime? The best gift you can give your child for the rest of his/her life, is good eating habits. My 5yo does not like sweet food and knows that we don't approve of it. He will request nicely and takes rejection well. Anyway, when offered, he only takes one or two mouths and finds it too salty or too sweet. :)
